Buwan ng Wika

We have all been aware about the famous line of Dr. Jose Rizal, which states that Ang taong hindi marunong magmahal ng sariling wika ay mas mabaho pa sa malansang isda. At some point, people may think that this quote has been used too many times which makes it no longer worthy to be discussed especially that parents, schools and other institutions now promote the use of the English language. However, people often fail to see the relevance of the concept of the said quotation. In the long run, the Filipino language will always be the more superior dialect for our country. It is not just a matter of adhering to the language due to it being the common tongue. Appreciating our own language allows us to value our sense of nationalism.

Ang taong hindi marunong magmahal ng sariling wika ay mas mabaho pa sa malansang isda.

This does not necessarily imply that we have to abandon all other dialects, but rather, we should neither forget our own mother tongue nor should we also think lowly of it.

In order to promote the sense of nationalism through our language, the students celebrated Buwan ng Wika by participating in a short contest entitled Bayani ko, Kamukha ko, where the students dressed up as our beloved heroes. During the said activity, the participants introduced themselves as they portrayed these historical figures.
